As you surely know, last Friday June 21 was International Yoga Day and in Junglemat we wanted to celebrate it in a very special way.
Personally, I love this day because it is a way to honor a practice that has changed my life. This day celebrates yoga events all over the world. People come together to practice, talk about their experience and enjoy yoga in a thousand different ways.
In Junglemat we wanted to be part of this celebration by participating in two events; an instagram contest and a yoga class for children.
Celebrating International Yoga Day online
Throughout the week we were announcing in our social media the bases to participate in the #BreathTheNature contest. The contest was held on our Instagram platform and from early of June 21st anyone could participate. To compete, you had to upload a photo doing yoga outdoors. In this way we celebrate at the same time the two things that we love the most in this world: yoga and nature.
I think there is no better way to celebrate such a special day than enjoying what we are passionate about. The truth is that it was very nice to see so many people joining us. Here you can see some of the images of stories that I liked the most:
Winner of the contest #BreathTheNature
On Saturday 22nd in the morning we made the draw by an instagram direct and the winner was Lorena Hill (@lorenahillluciani). The prize of the contest consisted of one of our precious straps for mats that we brought directly from Guatemala. These straps are woven by Mayan women and are totally handmade. You can find here all that we have available.
Celebrating International Yoga Day with the little ones
On June 21st we also wanted to participate in some event of our city to be able to celebrate it in person with our community. That’s why we are part of the organization of a yoga class for kids at Librería Unicornio in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The bookshop looked this beautiful with the Junglemat mats.
The teacher in charge of the class was Laura Expósito, an expert in yoga for children and families. Several kids came with their parents to celebrate International Yoga Day in a different and very funny way. You only have to see the pictures to realize how fun was it for the kids:
I love watching children participate in yoga and mindfulness activities. As we explained in one of our post, yoga has many benefits. Kids learning these values and integrate them into their lives from such a young age is a very important step to achieve a kinder world. They are the ones who are going to be part of the society of the future and therefore those who can make that world a little better by plagiarizing it with love, gratitude and patience among many other things.
As you can see, in Junglemat we spent International Yoga Day surrounded by fun, love and affection for what we like the most. It has made me very happy to see that more and more people become part of this beautiful community of JungleYoguis.
And you, how did you celebrate International Yoga Day?
Yoga goes through an endless path but the route is magical. Enjoy the process and if you liked this article we encourage you to share it in your social networks and leave us a comment.
